Dick Clark's House

An iconic celebrity needs an equally impressive home, and that is exactly what television legend Dick Clark has had. It looks just like the Flintstones' home in the famous cartoon. Sitting on top of a very steep hill, the specially designed home is on the market for $3.5 million, but its appearance from the outside is not the biggest selling point it has to offer.

The unusual architectural retreat has huge glass windows in every room which give amazing views of the nearby Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands, Boney Mountains and Serrano Valley.

Although the property only has one bedroom, it boasts two bathrooms and looks like a cavern throughout the whole house.
The cave like structure and high ceilings add to the Flintstones feel, as does the log
burning fire place and its wine cellar.
Set in a 23-acre estate, the luxurious and extrovert home is an architectural marvel and
is classed as one of Malibu's landmark buildings.

Young Elephant Plays Football

Two-year-old elephant wowing crowds with her football skills before Euro 2012

By Rob Preece
With Euro 2012 less than a fortnight away, England's footballers are doing all they can to impress before the big kick-off.
And judging by this hilarious video, it seems a two-year-old elephant called Donna has many of the ball skills that England coach Roy Hodgson is looking for.
The playful Asian elephant, one of the star attractions at Whipsnade Zoo, entertained crowds of tourists as she pelted a giant football about her paddock.

Her impressive display of ball control included heading, passing between her feet and a nifty step-over.
She even managed a cheeky backheel before eventually falling into a heap on the floor at the final whistle.
Stefan Groeneveld, senior keeper at the zoo in Bedfordshire, said animals enjoyed taking part in ball exercises.

NASA Space Photos from International Space Station [with some essay]

Incredible Space Pics from ISS by NASA astronaut Wheelock [29 Pics]

By Marcus Hirn on November 22, 2010 in Arial Photography, Featured, Nasa, Space
On September 22, 2010, with the departure of the Expedition 23 crew, Colonel Douglas H. Wheelock assumed command of the International Space Station and the Expedition 25 crew. He is also known as @Astro_Wheels on twitter, where he has been tweeting space photos to his followers since he arrived at the space station. We thought that we should put some of the space photos together as a tribute to him and the whole ISS crew. The space photos bring breathtaking views from our only off planet Vista point. The following space photos are all visible on Astro_Wheels' twitpic account, and we are eternally grateful to him for sharing these space photos with the world. Many have commented directly to him but we want to make it clear Triggerpit does not have any affiliation with Astronaut Wheelock nor NASA. The confusion might have been since all the captions are all his own words as can also be seen on his twitpic account.[29 Pictures]

Beautiful flowers? Look a little closer and you'll see these stunning bouquets are actually drops of paint

By Daily Mail Reporter

At first glance, these incredible images look like still-life portraits of flowers.
But far from being drawn in the traditional way, they are created by photographing fast-moving droplets of paint as they fall through the air.
Artist Jack Long, 53, spends months painstakingly planning and testing each work before capturing them with a high-speed camera.

Moon Bridge In Taipei

Stunning and serene: Incredible images of the Moon Bridge in Taipei capture this magical, misty landscape

By Helen Collis
Morning mist hangs in the calm, still air adding to the dream-like magic of this tranquil setting in Taiwan.
The crystal clear water allows for a perfect reflection of an upside down world, almost playing tricks on the mind.
With scenery like this, it is no wonder that Taiwan was formerly known as the Beautiful Island - Ilha Formosa - to the West.
These remarkable, soft blue, monochrome pictures of The Moon Bridge, in DaHu (Big Lake) Park in Taipei, northern Taiwan, were taken by an arguably talented photographer, known simply as bbe022001 on Flickr.
The park itself in fact sits close to the industrial centre of Taiwan. The northern Neihu district of Taipei is famous for its IT industry and large shopping complexes.
But its parks and impressive mountains, dotted with temples and holy shrines, are unforgettably breathtaking.
Taiwan has more than 200 mountains that soar above 3,000 meters in height, and the unique geology and topography have created countless alluring landscapes and coastal scenes.

The amazing story of Ratan Tata ...!!!!!!

The amazing story of how Ratan Tata built an empire...!!!!!

He's packing his bags -- again. December 2012, when he turns 75, is the third scheduled retirement for Ratan Tata.

The Tata Group has been at this inflection point twice earlier, and stepped back both times. In 2002, when Tata was to retire at 65, the Tata Sons board promptly redesignated him non-executive chairman, which meant he could continue for another five years.

Three years later, the board upped the retirement age of non-executive directors to 75. The message is clear: Ratan Tata is indispensable.

And it's not just the board that feels that way. There were loud cries of support from shareholders at the Tata Steel AGM in August, held soon after the announcement that Tata Sons had created a panel to find Tata's successor.

"We can't lose our ratan (jewel)," said one shareholder, while others asked him to stay on as chairman emeritus.

Whether or not he acknowledges it openly, Tata must be feeling vindicated by this public recognition of his worth. When he took over as Tata Group chairman on March 25, 1991, critics were loud and unrestrained in their disapproval and scepticism.

Ratan Tata was considered to have gained his position purely on the strength of his surname; he was incompetent, raged opponents both within and outside Bombay House, and he didn't possess an iota of the charisma of his uncle and predecessor, JRD Tata.

Nearly 20 years later, Ratan Tata has achieved almost everything on his 1991 agenda. At Rs 3.46 lakh crore (Rs 3.46 trillion), Tata Group revenue is 40 times the 1991 level, while net profit has gone up four times.

It is the largest Indian multinational conglomerate; more than 65% of the group's income comes from overseas and it has 98 operating companies (28 listed) spread across 56 countries in six continents.

In the past decade -- the decade that marked the glorious years of Ratan Tata -- nearly $18 billion was shelled out to acquire 22 companies worldwide, including Tetley Tea and Corus Steel in the UK, New York's Pierre Hotel and Jaguar Land Rover.

RC Bridges, nicknamed 'The Buffalo Whisperer' and his wife Sherron, share their Texas home with two enormous bison - 2,400 pound 'Wildthing' and recent 900-pound arrival 'Bullet'.

Wildthing, who is seven years old, acted as the best man when his owners renewed their wedding vows in 2006, after five years of marriage. RC, 63, said: "He carried the rings on his horns and threw them off one at a time for us to catch."

RC, who is a cowboy and horse trainer, has worked with bison - or buffaloes, as he refers to them - most of his life. After losing an eye in 2004 he had to sell his herd - except for one young male, Wildthing, who he decided to keep as a pet.

World's FIRST ever..

World's First Digital Camera (1975): Created by Kodak's engineer Steve Sasson

In December 1975, Kodak engineer Steve Sasson invented something that would, decades later, revolutionize photography: the world's first digital camera. It was the size of a toaster, and captured black and white images at a resolution of 100×100 - or 0.01 megapixels in today’s marketing terminology. The images were stored on cassette tape, taking 23 seconds to write. The camera uses an ADC from Motorola, a bog-standard (for the 1970s) lens from a Kodak movie camera, and a CCD chip from Fairchild Semiconductor - the same technology that digital cameras still use today. To playback the images, a special computer and tape reader setup (pictured below) was built, outputting the grainy images on a standard TV. It took a further 23 seconds to read each image from tape.

World's First Motel (1925): Motel InnWorld's First Motel

Motel Inn in San Luis Obispo, California, is the world's first motel. It was built in 1925 by LA architect Arthur Heineman, who coined the term motel meaning "motor hotel." Motel Inn was originally called the Milestone Mo-Tel. Back then, one night stay was $1.25. Heineman couldn't afford the trademark registration fee, so his competitors were able to use the word "motel." The motel is still in operation today.

World's First Album Cover (1938): Smash Song Hits by Rodgers and Hart

Before Alex Steinweiss, then a 23-year-old designer, invented album covers in 1938 for Columbia Records, albums were sold in plain brown wrappers. The album "Smash Song Hits by Rodgers and Hart" was the very first album cover in the world.
